By participating in Holy Tradition through his life in the Church, he shares it with those around him. He thus preserves Tradition and passes it on to the next generation. The word for tradition in the original Greek is παράδοσις, which implies a handing over, transmission or handing down.1 The student of Orthodox theology must become conscious of his calling to serve as a living link in this two-thousand-year tradition.
